Dr. Richard Grant will discuss the Catholic Purpose Driven Life. The popular phenomenon of the ”Purpose Driven Life” offers an ego-based approach to spirituality. Using humor, Catholic theology and modern Jungian psychology, Dr. Grant explores a spirituality that combines Purpose-Driven decisions with our lifelong personal development.

Calling all Catholic young adults who live downtown

Attention young adults who either attend Saint Mary Cathedral or live near it: YOU ARE INVITED! Please prayerfully consider joining the new and improved young adult ministry(ies) at St. Mary’s. Because of high demand, the parish is in the process of revamping its young adult ministry program to connect young adults (aged 18 to 39) to a faith community. There will be a minimum of one young adult ministry, serving those aged 18 to 30/32, and if there is enough interest, a second young adult ministry serving those aged 30/32 to 39 will also form.

Travelling Mass

Travelling Mass May 20th, 3:30pm St. Mary’s Cathedral

Dust off your parents’ old missals! We’re going to experience Mass the way it was done before Vatican II. The Latin Mass, which is put on by the St. Joseph Latin Mass Community, will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, located at 203 E. 10th Street in downtown Austin. Mass is at 3:30, with confessions and rosary starting at 3:00. Missals are provided for visitors. It is what they consider to be “Low Mass”, but be prepared for it to last a little longer than an hour. Please refer to the link for excellent parking directions. http://www.austinlatinmass.org/newsletters/current.pdf We will meet before Mass at 3:15, either in the back of church or outside on the steps, weather permitting. We’ll meet again afterwards and decide where to eat dinner. Call Debra or Ken Korty at 689-1499 (Debra’s cell) so we know to look for you.

it will be an All-Texas Byzantine Divine Liturgy, where people from Austin, Dallas, and Houston are all coming together.

This will be a really nice opportunity to participate in the Byzantine mass in the Austin area.

It begins at 1 PM, at Our Lady’s Maronite Church (1320 E 51st St - East of I-35) in the main church. They will even be setting up the iconostasis. Afterwards, there is a catered picnic at Zilker park.

If you are not familiar with our Eastern Catholic brethren in communion with Rome, you can read up here:
