This next Sunday (May 6), there will a special Byzantine Catholic mass…
it will be an All-Texas Byzantine Divine Liturgy, where people from Austin, Dallas, and Houston are all coming together.
This will be a really nice opportunity to participate in the Byzantine mass in the Austin area.
It begins at 1 PM, at Our Lady’s Maronite Church (1320 E 51st St - East of I-35) in the main church. They will even be setting up the iconostasis. Afterwards, there is a catered picnic at Zilker park.
If you are not familiar with our Eastern Catholic brethren in communion with Rome, you can read up here:

This will fulfill your Sunday obligation for us Latin Rite (or “Roman”) Catholics.
The liturgy is different and longer, and involves the congregation more.
For more information on the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, so that you don’t feel lost during the mass, check out:

If you can’t attend, you can always attend the Maronite rite mass, here in Austin every week!
